Part 1. Encanto Review – A Brief Plot

Our main character, Mirabel Madrigal, is the only non-magic kid in an extended family, in which all members are gifted with various magic powers. This makes Mirabel feel a bit left out and like an outsider in the family. However, as days pass, the family magic seems to go wrong. First, she saw the cracks in the house and the failing candlelight. She tried to warn others but only was told to be nonsense.

Later, in the conversation with her sister Luisa, Mirabel learned that Luisa was going under tremendous pressure and felt weak when the cracks occurred. This conversation inspired Mirabel to solve the puzzle, why the cracks occurred, and how to save the family's magic from dying out.

As cracks disrupt the once-harmonious family magic, Mirabel's resolution to save the whole family encounters the Madrigals' struggles.

As the story goes on, Mirabel helps family members to restore their faith. Others also understood that no one should be defined by their magic power. As always, it is a happy ending, and everyone's magic is back.

Although it is a happy ending, the moment when Mirabel sees the whole family celebrate Antonio's new gift, you can really relate to her feelings, the kind of moments when you feel left out by your own family.
